Lung X-Ray Self-Referral Pilot – Leeds

This new pilot service which will commence at the end of February 2024, allows pharmacies to refer eligible patients in Leeds directly for a chest X-Ray at one of the sites listed. This compliments the self-referral process already in place by providing funding for you to identify patients presenting in your pharmacy who fit the eligibility criteria listed.

It is hoped that your direct intervention, and associated advice to the patient, will increase early detection of Lung Cancer. Early detection and treatment increases the positive outcomes for patients diagnosed with lung cancer.

To provide this service, you must be a registered pharmacy in the Leeds area. Unfortunately, this service is not available to DSPs due to the need for a face to face consultation with the patient. You must also complete the associated training, by watching a short video which will be made available to those who sign up to the service. The video will be sent to you on completion of the contract.

The invite and contract for this service was emailed to all Leeds pharmacies (excluding DSPs) via their pharmacy’s shared NHSmail address on Monday 26th February 2024.
