Calling All Pharmacy Technicians – We Need Your Input Please!
Pharmacies that consistently perform well do not necessarily have larger teams but make full use of the whole team to support service delivery. Investing in the development of pharmacy technicians can strengthen operational resilience, improve patient flow, and alleviate pressure on the pharmacist by enabling them to confidently support service delivery.
Following the 2024 legislative changes, registered pharmacy technicians can now supply and/or administer medicines under Patient Group Directions (PGDs). More recently, updates to the service specification mean that pharmacy technicians are also able to deliver the Pharmacy Contraception Service.
To support this expanded role, CPWY is looking at developing targeted training for pharmacy technicians who are already delivering, or might be interested in delivering, the Pharmacy Contraception Service.

Please encourage any pharmacy technicians to complete this short survey. Their feedback will be instrumental in identifying local training needs and shaping a workshop that equips technicians with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver the Pharmacy Contraception Service effectively.
