Reminder of May Measure Month & World Hypertension Day – Saturday 17th May 2025

THIS CONTENT HAS NOW EXPIRED

This year’s World Hypertension Day is taking place on Saturday 17th May 2025!

May is also May Measure Month, and the theme for this year is Know Your Numbers.

Some local information and resources for West Yorkshire can be found here to help you raise awareness of May Measure Month 2025 and World Hypertension Day.

The month of May is an ideal opportunity to highlight the importance of a blood pressure (BP) check to your patients and the potential health benefits it can bring. BP testing under the Hypertension Case-Finding Service can also be a valuable source of service income for your pharmacy as well – and remember it doesn’t have to be the pharmacist doing the BP test!

As many as 5 million adults in the UK have undiagnosed high blood pressure and don’t know they are at risk, and hypertension is the leading risk factor for death and disability globally.

With the Community Pharmacy Hypertension Case-Finding Service, you and your team are ideally placed to help identify undiagnosed patients and, if needed, refer them on to start treatment early. Early diagnosis and treatment are important. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to complications such as kidney failure, heart failure, sight problems and vascular dementia.
