Quick Dose: Knowledge Capsule – Pharmacy First Clinical Pathway Banding & Caps

Our ‘Quick Dose: Knowledge Capsule’ items are designed to deliver key pharmacy insights in clear, bite-sized formats for fast learning. This one focuses on the Pharmacy First Clinical Pathway Banding and Caps!

Please see this short, 4-minute, video produced by Amanda, one of our Advanced Service Facilitators, which addresses some of the queries commonly asked including how pharmacies can increase their monthly cap.

Monthly caps on clinical pathway consultations are updated each month, and it is strongly advised that pharmacies check their cap at the beginning of every month. Band assignments and monthly caps for each pharmacy (by ODS code) are published on the BSA website. If a pharmacy ODS code is not included in the list, the pharmacy is automatically considered to be in the lowest band (Band 1).

How Do I Increase My Cap?

A pharmacy’s placement within a band is based on their previous delivery of the service. For example, placements for June 2025 were based on pharmacy activity between Jan 2025 to March 2025.
