An Update on Advanced Services with a Focus on Emergency Contraception (EC) & the Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS)

Over recent months, there have been a number of significant changes to several national pharmacy services, with further updates to the PCS and New Medicine Service (NMS) due to be implemented from 29th October 2025.

This event will primarily focus on the supply of EC, its integration within the PCS and supporting wider and more consistent access for patients across England.

Parking at this venue is free of charge. However, attendees must enter their car registration on arrival on the screen that can be found in reception, or on the tablet upstairs outside of the meeting room.


 

Registration is required to attend this event and a separate booking must be made for each registrant. The event is open to all West Yorkshire pharmacies and the whole pharmacy team is welcome to join us. Photos and recordings may be taken at the event, if you do not want to be in any photos, please email info@cpwy.org after registering. If you need to cancel after registering, please email us so we can release your place.

6:30pm – Registration, buffet and refreshments, engagement with exhibition stands* and networking.

7:15pm – Introductions for the evening.

7:20pm – Prescribing Support and Education & CPD for Community Pharmacists – Dr Phil Xiu, Local GP and Lead Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) at DPP Support.

7.30pm – Advanced Services Overview a rundown of the key changes to National Advanced Services including EC and its integration within the PCS – Nicola Goodberry Kenneally, CPWY CEO and Lisa Meeks, Service Implementation Lead.

7.45pm – Training on Oral EC including an update on contraception methods, case studies relating to the supply of EC in practice, Q&A session and more – Dr Helen Padfield, Associate Specialist in Sexual Health, Locala Sexual Health.
