Pharmacy Walk in Consultation Service (WiCS)

This service has now ended.  Thank you to the pharmacies providing this service which has helped us to be able to provide evidence to commissioners of the outstanding difference community pharmacy can make in supporting patients with minor ailments thereby reducing pressure on other parts of the system (we will be using this evidence to promote GP referrals into CPCS).

Data collated from March to August shows the amazing work carried out by pharmacies delivering this service. From this data, template letters have been created for community pharmacies to personalise and send to their local GPs. The letter includes area specific data to demonstrate the benefits of GPs sending GP CPCS referrals to your pharmacy through the formal referral pathway.  The letters can be found here.

The West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) Pharmacy Walk-in Consultation Service (WiCs) was launched on 1st February 2023.

The service will make available an additional 11,000 high quality, minor illness face to face appointments with a pharmacist to members of the public who are residents in West Yorkshire. These consultations will take place in the professional environment of a private pharmacy consultation room. The minor illness conditions for which members of the public can receive this service are the same as those for CPCS. These consultations will be in addition to and complementary to the existing national CPCS referral pathways. This service will increase community pharmacy resilience by providing additional funding for giving advice to eligible people about the self-management of minor illness conditions.
