Under the terms of this service the pharmacist supervises the consumption of prescribed medicines, ensuring that the dose has been administered and consumed as required by the prescription, to the patient.
Within West Yorkshire this service is commissioned for the supervision of drugs used within substance misuse services.

Leeds Supervised Consumption
The current contract for the Supervised Consumption Service in Leeds has been in place since 1st July 2018 and is due to expire on 30th June 2021. Supervised consumption is an important service provided by pharmacies to target misuse of illicit substances, prevent withdrawal symptoms and reduce risk to service users. The service is currently delivered by a number of pharmacies in Leeds in collaboration with Forward Leeds: the alcohol and drug service in Leeds for adults, young people and families.

Guidance on CD Instalment Prescriptions – the “appropriate” date
Turning Point has informed us that they are receiving a number of queries about what is defined as the "appropriate date" on CD instalment prescriptions such as those for methadone and buprenorphine. These prescriptions are valid for 28 days after the "appropriate" date which is either the date on which it was signed by the prescriber, OR, the date indicated by the prescriber as being the date before which it shall not be supplied - whichever is the later of the two dates.
