Sad News

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend Nigel Hughes who passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Thursday 5th January 2017.

Nigel was a loved and valued member of the Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire team and was instrumental in pushing forward the role of community pharmacy both within West Yorkshire and nationally.

Nigel was well-loved, admired and respected by the many people he got to know over his time with us, building on his previous career in health services across West Yorkshire.

All that knew him will have been privileged to work with him; as a team we certainly have been for the past 5 years.

We will remember him dearly for his great positivity, smile, passion and cheeky sense of humour.

This is a great loss to our organisation, health services in West Yorkshire and community pharmacy across the country. Nigel won many awards for his work at CPWY but we were all especially proud when he, a nurse by background, won the Royal Pharmaceutical Society West Yorkshire Synergy Award for his outstanding contribution to the pharmacy profession.

As a team, we are proud to have worked so closely with him as he turned his many great ideas into an even better reality.  We are going to miss him.

We cannot begin to understand the sorrow Nigel’s death will bring to his family and our thoughts will always be with them.

Sympathy / condolence cards can be sent to:
